The blog is back!

It’s been a little while, but hey, who hasn’t had to scale back their side hustle a little bit when life gets a little bit overwhelming?
I took some time over the last few years to restructure MarMadeThat a little bit behind the scenes. That included a move, a new home studio, being very intentional about taking fewer commissions, and branching out more with my garment sewing and upcycling. What I absolutely love about this work is the joy I find in making pieces for all of you, and being mindful of the scale of the commissions I take on is vital in preserving that joy.
I’ve still been active on social media of course, but in case you missed it here are some MarMadeThat updates from the last year or so:
-
I launched my first custom sewn garments! These upcycled bow tops are so much fun to make, and can be made in any size to fit your measurements.
-
I got a Kindle, and I’m making it everyone’s problem. By that I mean I’m having a losing competition with my sister over how many books I read, and making book-ish inspired pieces like upcycled Kindle cases and bookmarks.
-
I got an embroidery machine! It can’t replicate my floral pieces or pet portraits, but it’s been great for some simple pieces, and Spotify scan code embroideries.
-
I’ve taught a few sewing and embroidery workshops, and would love to do more! I’m working on some embroidery patterns to be able to share with all of you.
-
And finally the last big update for all of you: I got engaged and in true Mar fashion I am planning to make my wedding dress. I’m in the research stage right now, but I’ll probably be blocking my fiancé (sorry, Andrew) so that I can share this process with all of you.
If there’s anything in particular you want to see, let me know! I’d love to teach some more workshops whether that’s embroidery or sewing. Inspiration for some of my favorite pieces has come from you all, and I am so grateful to have you along on this journey with me.
XO,
Mar
